Abstract or Project Summary

Texas Sea Grant will continue its second year of implementing planning support projects under FEMA’s Community Engagement and Risk Communication (CERC) program as a Cooperating Technical Partner (CTP). Tasks are divided into two project areas and a Strategic Plan. The two project areas are the Citizen Planner Pilot Project and Resiliency Workshops. The Citizen Planner project will result in the development of a planning education program for local officials in Texas. The curriculum will educate local officials to understand and interpret municipal planning powers and tools for the protection of Texas communities from flooding hazards. The Resiliency Workshops will be organized and hosted by Texas Sea Grant in priority Texas counties through engagement with local and county government stakeholders. The workshops will utilize the CHARM mapping application. Work tasks proposed in this scope will be developed in close collaboration with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service CERC program coordinators and staff (Proposal No: 1605918). Specified deliverables resulting from this scope will be submitted directly to the sponsor.
